Fellow Democrats,

We as Democrats have to get serious if we want to keep the gains we've made in Polk County in the last couple of years.

As you know, this is an important election year.  The Polk County Democratic Party need to look to this year. 2010. We need to look at what we can do to get Democrats into office locally in Polk County and see what we can do to elect State and Federal candidates.  We have some really exciting candidates who need our support. Here are some of the ways you can help us build on our progress:

1.       Come by to visit or help staff our office in Monmouth in the H&R Block Building. The office is open on Thursdays from 1pm to 5:30 pm, Fridays from 1 pm to 5:30 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. The telephone number is 503 837-0943.

We have most of the time slots filled for the hours listed but we are urgently asking for your help to fill in when those volunteers are not available or the volunteers who have signed up find that some unknown circumstance in the future doesn't allow them to work a certain day.

VOLUNTEERING TO COVER A THURSDAY, FRIDAY, OR SATURDAY shift can be a rewarding way to do your part.  Please look at your schedule for the summer to see when you can help. WILL YOU? Contact Sue Olmstead at (503) 831-1586 or  reolm2@msn.com

    2.       We will be having a booth at the Polk County Fair (August 12-15) and the Oregon State Fair for Polk County Day (the date as yet to be determined but between August 27 and September 6). ANOTHER GREAT WAY TO GET MORE INVOLVED WITH LOCAL DEMOCRATS AND YOUR COMMUNITY is volunteering to spend 3 hours helping at the booths we are setting up for these events.  This is a fun thing to do and then you can visit these public events before or afterwards while you are there anyway. We especially need volunteers for the Polk County Fair. If you think you might have schedule problems due to 4-H, etc, just talk to Sue about them. Please contact Sue Olmstead at (503) 831-1586 or reolm2@msn.com

    3.      Thanks for all your support at the Independence Days Booth and the July 14 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Pentacle Theatre benefit.

Thanks very much in advance for your support of your local Polk County Democrats.
